Welcome to ELITE WEST Volleyball

"Our Vision is to provide an environment which will allow every individual athlete to identify and develop his unique gifts to the greatest extent possible, both as a volleyball player and a person. We will strive to position that player to enable him to exercise those gifts for the benefit of the team and show him that personal success will be achieved by our development and execution as a team."

Overview

Elite West is a premier Calgary boys volleyball club with a history of exceptional performance and a focus on athlete development.

We started a new cycle with two 14U boys teams in the 2021-22 season. Every year we will select players who wish to be part of our vision. While we sincerely hope for the consistency provided by returning players, there are NO guarantees to players on a year-to-year basis - they have to earn their spot on the team each year.

In the 2022-23 season we developed two 15U boys teams - Elite West Bravo and Elite West Echo. We competed in all AVA Tournaments, Provincials and VC Nationals.

In the 2023-24 season, Elite West will be running two 16U boys teams with rosters of 10-12 players.

We model our training and coaching programs on the best post-secondary programs in the country to prepare our athletes to have the best opportunities available as they progress.

A Tradition of Excellence

2005-2018: VC National Champions - THREE Gold Medals, Three Silver Medals, and One Bronze Medal

100% of our 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2022 athletes were offered scholarships to play on Post-Secondary teams

34 players selected for Canadian National Teams since our club’s inception in 1981

An exceptional coaching staff with over 40 years of combined experience.

“It is difficult to put into words just how influential my time playing volleyball for Elite West was.  Elite West taught me many things that go way beyond volleyball.  Hard work, perseverance, and resiliency are just a few of those things. Elite West is more than a volleyball club, it really is a family.  The relationships that I made at Elite West are lifelong.   Your time with Elite West doesn’t finish after you take off your jersey after your last U18 game.  The connections with teammates, coaches, parents and competitors will always be there.  With the high-level volleyball, strength training, alumni sessions, travelling and team bonding, Elite West is a volleyball club that has a mission that goes beyond simply winning games.  This club is about developing great athletes and amazing young people.”

“My experience with EW was incredible. I still look back on some of my most cherished memories; not only winning a provincial championship or national bronze or the trip to Cuba, but the time I spent with my teammates/friends. Playing club volleyball is one of the best times in my sports career because it didn’t feel like “work”, it was fun. Once it got to university volleyball it felt like “work” preparing for who you are playing that week. The coaches created a competition level unlike any other which made practices that much more exciting. Enjoy your time with EW because very few things have compared to my time playing for EW.”

Logan Brennen

EW 2013 Grad

“Volleyball has provided me with numerous extraordinary opportunities. I have been extremely fortunate to play volleyball at nearly every competitive level including high school, club, USport, and National Team. Through these experiences I have travelled the world, met thousands of people and above all learned so much about myself and my capabilities. Simply put, this all began with Elite West and the amazing people who represent it - Brad Kilb, Bonnie Macrea-Kilb, Fraser Macleod, Florine Crancium and many others. Long story short, the individuals I mentioned above have ultimately made this dream of a volleyball career possible. Apart from my parents, I can say without a doubt that these individuals have made some of the most significant and meaningful contributions to my life. Beyond their direct contributions, they have also connected me with several individuals who have and continue to impact my life in remarkable ways. Their belief in me as a person and athlete provided me with the confidence and determination to persevere, compete and in most peoples opinions overachieve in the sport of volleyball. These people and this club have developed a best in class culture, incomparable to any other club I have ever been associated with. This club and their coaches are focussed on building good people with character, morals and accountability. The life lessons I learned from these coaches during the critical personal growth period of 15-18 years old have been invaluable in my development as an athlete, coach, leader, teammate, academic and human being."
